Jr Folk Intermediate Music Group
THURSDAYS starting in September
4:30-6:30PM

Jr. Folk Music Intermediate Music Group is taught by skilled performers and teachers; Hilary Hawke on banjo, Glendon Jones on Fiddle, and Christopher White on guitar.
Students will receive small group instruction on an individual instrument that they choose, and ensemble instruction on how to play with a group during a two hour time slot on Thursdays.

Instrumental skills and technique are taught, but an emphasis is placed on how to be part of a band, how to interact and support eachother, and how to solo and improvise as well as building upon repertoire. Music will be learned by ear, but sheet music and tab will also be provided. The goal of every session is a 35-60 minute final performance in the Jalopy Theatre or alternative space (busking outside the subway).

The students will have a short break during the period of two hours where they can bring a snack and interact with eachother.

Social and cooperative group games as well as group discussions about the music are added to every lesson to enhance the experience, and allow the students to learn from eachother.

Banjos, fiddles and guitars are available to rent for the course, at a cost of $50. For more information, starting dates, or to register, please visit www.jalopy.biz or email jrfolk@jalopy.biz
